So Much to Share…

But so little time!  At least that is how I have felt these last few weeks (months?).  I have so many half-written blog posts just waiting for me to finish them up… but I just can’t seem to find the time these days.

Here are some of the exciting tidbits that I can’t wait to share more about, just as soon as I can…

  • Hair.  Mikayla’s hair that is.  For other adoptive parents out there who are on the “hair journey” trying to figure out the routine of black, natural, hair care, I will share what I have tried so far.
  • New Job.  Yep, I will be starting a new job in June and I’m super excited about it!
  • Eli’s LOVE of the Bible.  Lately the characters in his make-believe games have had familiar names.  The other day Eli and Mikayla were having a “boxing match” in the living room and I overhear Eli say, “Okay Mikayla, it’s your turn to fight Peter.  And Jesus, you are going to fight Hosanna.”  (It’s like Easter meets Wii Boxing in my house)
  • An update on Princess Mikayla… now 7-months-home, talking up a storm, excited for her first trip Disneyland, still dealing with attachment “stuff” (the victories and the hardships), and realizing how much we have been BLESSED :)
  • Did I say Disneyland?  Yes!  Stay tuned for news on the Hutchison Family Summer Vacation…. we’ll be CA-bound!
  • Summit VI.  In case you forgot (because I know you’ve been endlessly thinking about it), that is where we are headed this week and I am really looking forward to it!!   Yippee!  Since I will actually be on a trip without kids… maybe I’ll get those blog posts finished up!

More to come… but in the meantime, here’s a cute pic of Mikayla eating her ice cream on one of our past “girls night out” adventures.

Happy Easter!

We had a weekend full of Easter fun, celebrating the Resurrection of our Savior!  The kids spent Friday night with Grandma and Grandpa, which gave Micah & I a wonderful date night and a chance to sleep in on Saturday :)  It was Mikayla’s first night away from home, and she did great!  The kids had an Easter egg hunt, dyed Easter eggs, went to the park, and came home with lots of “treasures.”  I don’t have any pics of their sleepover, but trust me, they had a great time.  I did too… can we do that every weekend?  I don’t remember the last time I had that much sleep!

Saturday afternoon was spent with the Hutchison clan.  The cousins enjoyed an Easter egg hunt together, and we all had a great time eating yummy food!

This morning we went to Easter services at Harvest Community Church (where we had a record attendance of over 400 people, woo hoo!).  Mikayla wore Easter dress #2 and Eli also wore his “Easter clothes.” :)  The kids each received a balloon in Sunday School, and had fun letting them go in our backyard when we got home.

I just love this picture of Mikayla because it shows a very real smile and joyful eyes :)

We are so thankful to serve a Risen Savior!  Today is a day of celebration for all He has done for us.  We are certainly blessed beyond measure.

We're Going!!!

To SUMMIT VI!!! Woo hoo! We absolutely loved Summit V last year, and really believe in what the Christian Alliance for Orphans stands for. We weren't sure if we'd be able to make it work this year to attend, but we registered today, bought plane tickets, and will be on our way to Minneapolis in just 3 short weeks :) This year there are some more well-known speakers who will be there, including John Piper, and Steven Curtis & Mary Beth Chapman (also leading worship). We are super excited about the breakout sessions as well. Thanks a million to my mom who offered to keep our kids for 3 nights so we could attend :)

Do you want to join us? Here's an invitation from John Piper...
