I Survived and the Blog Got an Upgrade

Medical procedures just are not my cup of tea. I don't know many people that enjoy medical procedures, but I am one of those that gets heebie-jeebies just from walking around in a hospital and hearing machines beep while they are attached to people. I had to overcome a lot of my "issues" during pregnancy because you constantly have to be at the doctor having people poking and prodding you. Oh, and then there's of course the birth itself where a woman pretty much loses all dignity :) Ha!

Needless to say, however, the things I have experienced over the last two days were not pleasant. However, they are not the sort of things that I would like to write about in a blog, nor do I think you would want to read about them. So, I will just say that I'm incredibly thankful it is now over and I survived!! Thanks to everyone who was praying for me - I truly needed it and appreciated all of the comments/emails/calls.

The nice thing about my resting/recovery process is that I've had time to just sit around and do random things... like give my blog a new background. Fun!

Prayers Please :)

A few weeks ago I went to the doctor due to some health problems I was experiencing. My doctor ran some blood tests and the results of those caused her to feel that further testing needed to be done to make sure nothing serious is going on. So I would like to just ask for your prayers as I undergo some not-so-fun experiences on Thursday and Friday of this week. I know that's not very specific, but I don't really want to get into the details of it all. Hopefully these tests will just serve to rule out any major health problems, and therefore provide peace of mind that all is well. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and prayers!! And thanks to my wonderful mom who will be keeping Eli for 2 nights so that I can rest and recover, and Micah can prepare for a sermon he has to preach on Sunday! Yeah for grandmas!!

Leave the Door Open

About a week ago Eli started having massive breakdowns when it was time to go to bed. This was quite out of the ordinary because he has never had a problem going to bed (well minus the colicky infant months... but we won't reminisce about that right now). Anyway, he would just freak out when placed in his bed or when going to bed was even mentioned. We finally figured out that he has reached an age where he has experienced being afraid of the dark. After a few sleepless nights of trying to rock, sing, read stories, and go back to bed (over and over again) we finally tried leaving the door open with the hallway light on... and it worked!! We had first tried a nightlight, but that just wasn't cutting it. Eli's room is as light as day with the hallway light shining in, but it works! Now that he has learned the words necessary to tell us what he wants he reminds me every evening, "Mommy weave doe open." Micah says he must be taking after me due to his need to clarify what exactly needs to happen before it happens, even when it's something we have done night after night :) Ha Ha! So Eli now sleeps in the light of day... but at least he's sleeping, and so are we. I thought the feat was worthy of a blog post.

Headed Back to AZ!

We had a great time last night hanging out with our good friends, the Klitzke's who are moving back to Arizona!! They are in town looking for houses. Andrea and I met at Walker Butte K-8 about four years ago where we taught across the hall from one another. Our sons were born two months apart in 2006 and enjoyed their baby "play dates" together before Andrea and Ryan moved to Minnesota that summer. Well, now thanks to Ryan's job they are coming BACK! At least for a few years until they will likely head back to Minnesota to settle there for good near family. :) Anyway, we had a great time last night at the Chandler Mall having dinner together at BJ's, dessert at Cold Stone, and letting our boys become reacquainted with one another. They were instant friends and kept each other happy the entire night... even though were out pretty late! Kaden also has a new baby brother named Reid, so it was great to meet him and realize how much our other two have grown. Here are some pictures of Eli and Kaden.. they were like two peas in a pod!

The Two Studs

Kaden really wanted to climb into the fountain. He was a little more daring than Eli!

"Bye Babe"

Micah and I often use the endearment term "babe" when addressing one another. Such as, "Hey babe, the phone is for you," or whatever. Well, apparently Eli has picked up on this. The other day when I was leaving for work this was the conversation that took place:

Me: "Bye Eli!"

Eli: "Bye Babe!" (this came out of nowhere!)

(uncontrollable laughter from Micah and I)

Eli: thinks to himself and then restates it "Bye Mommy Babe!"

Ha! Ha! Kids sure say the funniest things :)
